Hands down, the best way I’ve found to stay consistent with my healthy habits is to truly invest in the enjoyment of them.
Workouts – I LOVE workout clothes. I wear them pretty much any time I’m not at my professional job or out on a date with my hubby. I LOVE me some stretchy pants and yes, a cute sports bra and a pair of lululemon shorts DO make me workout harder. It’s MOTIVATING for me to wear cute workout wear, even when I’m not working out.
Nutrition – I spend more on food than I do most things. I down a superfood shake daily and it’s not cheap, but it’s 300% worth it. I eat organic, I eat whole foods, I eat really really well and it shows – not just on my waistline, but in my energy, my chutzpa and my brain functioning (hello, focus).
Now, I am not independently wealthy. I have a full-time career, an online fitness business, and a full life. I have a mortgage to pay and a life to support so I get that these things feel luxurious, but I don’t wear designer clothes, I bring my lunch to work every day, I only eat out twice a week and I don’t wear expensive jewelry. My engagement/wedding ring is the only “real” or precious adornment I have!
I make food and fitness a priority because it serves me in so many ways. It’s my health, my happiness, my independence and my success. Without it, I’d be at a loss. I’d be less than.
Know what’s important to you and invest in those things. It’s the best tip for a good life that I have for you (except sleep – get your zzz’s, too).
