ClassPass Review: Get Access to the Latest In-Studio and Streaming Workouts (30-day Free Trial)

    classpass review yoga

Have you heard of ClassPass yet?  It's is an app-based membership program that gives you access to a wide variety of gyms, fitness, barre and yoga studios in your local area for a flat monthly fee.  At this point, ClassPass is active in most major cities in the US and Canada and their monthly rate starts at $9 and goes up to $139 a month, depending on where you're located and how many classes a month you want to have access to.

ClassPass Benefits: Variety is the Spice of Fitness

The best part about ClassPass is that you get the benefit of variety!  Rather than paying a monthly fee for one studio only, you get to explore all kinds of different workouts and studios around you.  Locally, I’ve had the chance to try out a Crossfit gym, 2 different local yoga studios, and Barre3 - all great workouts I don't have access to through my online streaming fitness library.

The beauty of ClassPass is that because you’ve paid for these classes, you make the effort to go!  This is something I personally struggle with, so I like the accountability of having paid for workouts in advance.  My inner cheap girl won’t let those funds go to waste 🙂

One of my favorite things about ClassPass is that I've discovered so many local fitness studios I never knew existed, like pole fitness.  Not actually sure I’d venture into a pole dancing class (<- I have irrational fears of falling on my head), but it’s cool that there are so many options to choose from.  Even if you never sign up for a membership, it's a great way to scope out fitness studios in your area that you just haven't discovered yet.

    ClassPass Downsides: The ClassPass Bummers

The biggest bummer is that won’t get access to every local studio.  I think this will vary from city to city, but there’s bound to be one or two studios you'd love to try that don’t participate.  Just be sure to check out the local offerings in your city before you commit so you know what you're getting.  Also note, you don’t get access to all the classes within each studio.  There’s a good amount to choose from, but if you’re looking to work with specific instructors at specific times, you may find it frustrating to line up their schedules with your pass availability.

    Is there a cancellation fee?

    Nope.

Do they offer a free trial?

Heck ya!  Love me some free trials.  ClassPass offers a 30-day free trial and you can cancel after that if you want.

Now, even though Beachbody on Demand is my go-to for streaming fitness, I do love to try new workouts, so I was stoked to learn that ClassPass is starting to offer on-demand virtual classes as well!  They offer cardio, strength, yoga and barre classes (all my favs) and you can also get a free 1-month trial (scroll down to the website footer and look for ClassPass Online).  After the first free month, the monthly fee is $19.  That’s more than double the cost of Beachbody's streaming service, but it’s still less than the cost of 1 in-person class per month, so still very affordable.

I haven’t tried the online version of ClassPass, but I’ll be checking it out this month and reporting back on what I find.

Want to try a free month of the live or on-demand fitness classes? Head here to grab it now. Enjoy!
