I'm so inspired by the Piyo results below. I too have seen results from this program, and not just inches lost, but also greater strength, toned muscles and a LOT more energy. As a certified Piyo instructor, I love this workout and I think it's one of the best Beachbody has ever created.

Piyo Results: A Workout That's Way More Fun Than Yoga
I’ve been doing Piyo for a few weeks now. I have to say - if you’re not into jumping around and if doing a lot of bouncing makes you pee yourself a little (come on ladies, it happens), then I think you’d like this program. A lot.
It’s a fusion of yoga and pilates, but it’s amped up, so not so…..um… boring.
Yes, I love me some yoga. I even went all the way to India to study the art and science behind the practice in order to become a great teacher, but I admit, it’s a little slow for me. Piyo on the other hand, offers all the juiciness of yoga, without the long pose holds. You’re always moving (which I love).PiYo is Low Impact, but Not Low Energy
The other great thing about it is that it’s a low impact strength-focused workout, so it’s perfectly paired with something intense like running or HIIT. It’s also the perfect accompaniment to weight lifting.
Most of the workouts are around 30 minutes and while they are challenging to do, they’re not over the top crazy hard. However, you can make them more challenging by adding weights. So if you’re just getting back into workout out, Piyo is ideal because of the lack of strain on the joints.
Piyo is definitely for you if...
- You love yoga classes with a lot of flow and movement.
- You prefer to move to more upbeat music than most yoga classes.
- You want the benefits of pilates without doing pilates.
- You want a simple workout that doesn't require equipment beyond a yoga mat.
PiYo is definitely not for you if...
-
- you need lots of high impact in your workouts
- you need to work out for more than 30 or 40 minutes a day to feel like you've got your fix
- you love lifting weights so much that you couldn't dream of not making it to the gym every day.
You guys will not like this program - I can guarantee it.
Is PiYo a good Workout?
Yes! In my opinion as a certified personal trainer, yoga and Piyo instructor, it has the right elements to provide a solid workout for someone who is at a beginner to intermediate level. If you're a runner or someone who regularly lifts heavy weights, then this would be a great workout if you're injured or looking to take a break from advanced muscle building. It's ideal for building flexibility and strength while keeping your heart rate high enough to get a cardio value as well.
I also think this workout does particularly well with a lower carb diet because it’s not crazy high impact, so it’s less likely to require LOTS of energy to get through it.

The Piyo Meal Plan
All Beachbody programs now come with a free month of the Ultimate Portion Fix and 2B Mindset. Both are amazing nutrition programs that will compliment PiYo and any other workout you choose to do next. I've written a detailed post on the difference between Ultimate Portion Fix and 2B Mindset right here.
The Piyo program has 9 workouts (8 Base plus 1 Bonus) on 3 DVDs
-
- Align: The Fundamentals (40 min.)
- Define: Lower Body (25 min.)
- Define: Upper Body (20 min.)
- Sweat (35 min.) - favorite!!
- Sculpt (30 min.) - second favorite!!!
- Core (30 min.)
- Strength Intervals (25 min.) see my video review here.
- Drench (45 min.)
- BONUS: Buns (30 min.)
The Piyo program also includes:
-
- Quick Start Guide
- Get Lean Eating Plan - you know my thoughts on how to tweak this now
- PiYo 60-Day Workout Calendar - to take out all the guesswork so you don't have to *think* about what to do next
- A Tape Measure
PiYo & T25 Hybrid: Amp up your Workout
PiYo alone can be a challenging workout, particularly if you add weights to the exercises, but you can also blend the program with another program that calls for more weight lifting and HIIT training in order to accelerate the fat burning process. I think the best way to do that is to combine PiYo with a program like T25 - which is high impact and calls for some traditional weight training. The combination of both with give you incredible results (but it's not easy!).
How Many Days a Week is Piyo?
The traditional and hybrid workout calendars is 6 days a week. However, you can always do any workout plan at your own pace. Only have time for 3 workouts a week? That's fine! Just do it at your own pace. My best advice is to never let perfect be the enemy of progress. Three days a week of working out is a LOT better than not working out at all.
Piyo Results
Ready to get inspired? All of these ladies had great results with Piyo, but let's be honest here - they also adjusted their diets as well. Piyo is great for toning, sculpting and shaping, but if you don't clean up your nutrition, you won't lose fat (no matter how much you workout).
Now onto the results!
Want your own Piyo Results? Try it risk-free
I recommend buying a Beachbody On Demand Membership where you'll get access to over 500 workouts including Piyo and T25. There's a 30-day money back guarantee, so your only thing you risk is a little sweat.
The cost without shakeology is about $60 USD + shipping or you can buy it off Amazon for $72 USD. After shipping, they work out to be the same.
To get the most out of the program and personal coaching by me, I recommend investing in the bundle package where you get the full workout (along with all the other workouts that Beachbody has produced) and a 30-day supply of superfood nutrition. It helps with cravings and hunger, which seems to be what trips most of my clients up. When you purchase the bundle pack, you get entered into my online group where you'll get the accountability and support you need to get the results you're looking for. Plus, it's super fun. You can find out more about my coaching groups here, or just dive right in and grab the products today. I'll follow up with you as soon as you complete the purchase.

May
Hi. I bought Piyo and Im excited to try it, except that i hurt my back in a car accident about a year ago, and have herniated disks. My doctor says to walk and stretch to strengthen my core, which will help my back. Will Piyo help strengthen my back if i do the modified exercises?
Also, i need to start eating less carbs, as i have insulin resistance. What starches if any can i have from the Piyo eating plan?
Thanks

Hi May, It sounds like Piyo will be perfect for you. It's low impact and focused on flexibility and core strength. You'll get access to a food plan with piyo that will give you more detail, but I recommend staying away from anything that is flour-based and also potatos.
Good luck and let me know what you think of the workout! I did Piyo strength intervals this morning. I love it.

I am about to complete the piyo strength training series. What do you recommend Ido after? Should I start it all over? Thanks!

I would try barre blend! It's similar, if you like that kind of workout.
