21 Day Fix Extreme is the best workout Beachbody has every launched. It's my all time favorite workout because it delivers awesome results! Scroll down to snag a sample workout and try it for yourself.
I was referred to the 21 Day Fix Extreme workout by a friend of mine who is in great shape, so I figured if it gave her the results she had, I'm in. She was very clear that I should get the extreme version instead of the regular one, so that's what I did!
Honestly, I didn't think a home workout couldn't be that hard, and boy was I in for a surprise!
I consider myself to be in reasonably good shape and I’ve been through P90X in the past, so I figure this would demand a similar level of exertion. Oh, dear Gawd I was wrong. I was HUMBLED.
What you need to know about 21 Day Fix Extreme.
It will give you great results, but you need to be prepared for the intensity.
The program has been created twice - the first time it was recorded as 7 workouts that are repeated 3 times each for a total of 21 days. The second time, they recorded 21 individual workouts that build with intensity so it's not as hard on day 1 as it is on day 21.
Both versions of the program are available on Beachbody On Demand (which I LOVE) and I'm warning you now, the first workout starts with Plyometrics. This is the hardest of all of the workouts in the program, so I'm a little surprised it's the first one. It's basically jumping with weights and if that sounds challenging, you're on the right track.

Give this a whirl and see if it's for you. If you think it's too hard, the regular version is a better fit for you. If you think it's too easy, trust me - it gets harder 🙂

21 Day Fix Extreme is Still the Best Beachbody Workout
I've been doing Beachbody workouts religiously since 2016. I've done almost every program there is, but nothing has come close to 21 Day Fix Extreme in terms of results and fun. It's also the most popular program the company every launched.
What's the Difference between 21 Day Fix and 21 Day Fix Extreme
In some ways, the workouts are very similar:
- They're both 7 days per week (some days are active recovery)
- They cover the same body parts (lower body, upper body, full body, cardio, pilates and yoga)
- They're both only 30 minutes long (which is fantastic)
- The diet is the same.
But they are different in a very important way:
- 21 Day Fix Extreme is MUCH harder.

How Many Calories Can You Burn with 21 Day Fix?
That depends not only on the workout you're doing (plyometrics will give you a more significant burn than yoga for example), but also it depends on your ability to bring intensity to the workout. That said, you can expect to burn 300 to 500 calories for a an intense workout and less than 200 for the yoga recovery day.
I recommend anyone who is going to buy this program to get the performance pack with it. It includes a pre-workout drink that will give you the energy you need to go hard. The harder you go, the better your results!

The 21 Day Fix Meal Plan
The 21 Day Fix meal plan has become so popular that Beachbody created a full nutrition program out of it called The Ultimate Fix. Based entirely on a portion control, you use bright colored containers to measure out your food for the day and track your food on an app.
Some people swear by it and have lost a ton of weight doing it. I find it challenging to follow meal plans in general, but I do find this one to be easy to follow.
Is the meal plan low carb?
The short answer is "not really", but it really depends on where you're starting from. If you're eating a poor diet right now, then the 21 Day Fix Meal Plan is going to give you great results. However, if you find you don't tolerate carbs well at all (as I don't), then you might want to check out the 21 day fix low carb meal plan that I created.
What kind of Results Can you Expect from 21 Day Fix Extreme?
Really great ones - as long as you do the work and follow the meal plan. You're not going to lose 100 pounds (it’s only 21 days and it’s not a miracle maker), but I went from 140 lbs to 133 lbs in 3 weeks (which is awesome for me).
Here's some results from other people who have gone through the program. I share my own 21 Day Fix Before and After Results in this post.
Here’s what’s included in the program:
- 7 daily workouts - Plyometrics, upper body, lower body, cardio, full body, yoga and pilates.
- There are also bonus workouts that are perfect for mixing things up.
- The program is designed so that you workout every single day, with some days being more intense than others.
- All of the workouts are 30 minutes (except for one 10 minute core session)
- You will also get the containers with the program so you can follow along with the meal plan.
What equipment do you need for 21 Day Fix Extreme?
- You'll need a few sets of hand weights. I recommend a set of 5, 10 and 15 pounds if you're just starting out. You can go heavier if you've been weight lifting for a while.
- You will also need a large exersize band. Not the small loops, but a big band.
- A yoga mat is also really helpful, but not necessary.
Will I get better results using Shakeology or the Performance Line?
If you're afraid you don't have the chops for working out, I recommend getting the Performance Line Pre-Workout as that will give you additional energy to make it through the intensity of some of the workouts.
The Post-Workout shake will help with soreness and recovery. You could also do this with Shakeology, but personally, I think the best results come from the performance line products.
Would I recommend the Extreme or Regular 21 Day Fix?
I can honestly say that both versions are amazing. I would recommend the Extreme version with the performance pack to anyone who has some background with weight lifting, but you have to be willing to work really hard.
The great news is that when you purchase this bundle, you also get the original version which is much easier, so you can start there if you prefer.
You don't have to choose between 21 day fix and the extreme version. They're Both Available on BOD.
If you're worried about investing in this program and it being too intense for you, don't sweat it. When you order the program, you get access to ALL Beachbody programs, so if it's too much, just move on to something else.
There are over 2000 workouts on the platform, so there will definately be something there for you 🙂
How to buy 21 Day Fix Extreme?
If this is something you’re interested in trying, you can buy the program here. If you’re like me, and you don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to working out and you think gyms are absolute dream killers, then you will love this program.
Can you get 21 Day Fix without the Supplements?
Of course! You can buy the workout only right here. It's a much better deal to buy it with the supplements, but if that's not for you, then just order the workouts.

Love love love this workout!!
Heather
Have you tried 80 day? If so how
Do you think it compares? Thanks!
Caren
Hey Heather,
80 day obsession is more of an intermediate program, where as 21 Day Fix extreme is advanced. The regular 21 day fix program is probably a tad easier than 80 day obsession.
The difference is that there are fewer breaks in 21DF extreme. There's also a lot more ballistic movements (jumping). 80 day obsession is more of a traditional weight lifting program with some cardio classes added to it. 21DF is cardio and weights all at once. That's why it's harder.
Hope that's helpful.

would you do the live extreme version or the original extreme?
Caren
It depends on your fitness level. If you want to ease into it, I'd start with the live version.
Cassandra
Hey Caren,
I’m trying to purchase the 21 day fix program. But I’m having a hard time figuring out if it’s already included in the “Bodi essential collection “ pack ?Do I need to buy 21 Day Fix separately? Or is it included already in the essential collection?
Also, If I buy just the 21 day fix program, does that give me access to other programs on the app? Or just 21 day fix ?
Thank you !
Caren
Hey Cassandra,
If you buy the bodi essential pack, you get access to all workouts on the site. However, I believe the 21 day fix is still a $30 upgrade.
