Are you looking for the perfect homemade treat to give friends and guests for the holidays? This chocolate truffle recipe with chopped hazelnuts will not disappoint. It also won’t call for a lot of skill in the kitchen, so don’t sweat it - you’ll be done in less than 30 minutes.
No-bake Chocolate truffles for the win!
I love this recipe because it doesn’t call for any baking. That’s why I think it’s easy enough for anyone to master. The hardest part of this chocolate truffle recipe is melting the chocolate in the microwave, and friend - you can do this! lol
Last year, I made a similar recipe for my girlfriends, only I used unsweetened coconut. I love giving these truffles to my girlfriends in little boxes as we don’t exchange gifts, but I like to do “something”, you know? Anyway, these were a hit last year, so I plan to do them again this year!
What you’ll need for this chocolate truffle recipe
- 9 ounces dark chocolate chips (I used Lily's sugar-free brand. )
- Coconut cream
- Chopped Hazelnuts (or coconut flakes if you prefer)
- Cinnamon
- vanilla extract
- stevia (Sweeten to taste (optional)
- sea salt (like Malden, but use what you have)
How to make the truffles
- Simply melt the chocolate (see directions below)
- Add the other ingredients (except the hazelnuts or coconut)
- Let them set in the fridge for an hour
- Then roll them in the nut coating.
How to package your truffles
I used these little boxes from Amazon. It fit about 6, one inch truffle balls in each box. Then I wrapped it in curry ribbon (but you can use any ribbon on hand) and presented them with an individual Christmas card. The girls loved them!
How long will the truffles last?
The truffles will keep for weeks in the fridge or months in the freezer. I recommend storing them in the fridge once they’re packaged and prior to giving them out because if they stay at room temp too long, they’ll get sticky and start melting together.
Can you freeze these truffles?
Absolutely! In fact, I recommend freezing them if you plan to make them for yourself so that you have to take one out and let it thaw before you enjoy it. That alone will keep you from over-indulging.
Should I use little mini truffle holders?
I did, but unfortunately, those little suckers roll around in the box, so by the time they were presented to my friends, they had all rolled out of their individual wrappers. You might want to try just lining the bottom of the box and letting them all sit in the box together, but like I said, make sure they’re stored in a cooled spot.
What’s the best chocolate to use?
I used Lily's Brand of chocolate because it's sweetened with stevia, not sugar. You can use whatever kind of chocolate you have on hand, but note that it will impact the macros!
Other options for truffle coatings
