This sugar free cinnamon tea latte is the perfect way to warm up on a cold, January evening, especially when you’re observing Dry January.
Dry January has become an annual tradition for many of us who indulged a tad too much over the holidays. The idea is to ditch the booze for the entire month, give your liver (and pocket book) a reset, and kick off the new year off on a healthy foot.
Fun Fact - According to Alcohol Change UK, a British nonprofit, the Dry January tradition originated as a nation-wide effort to inspire millions of people to reset their relationship to booze. And the outcome of this endeavor?
- 86% of participants saved money
- 70% of participants had better sleep and
- 66% had more energy.
Wow.
I bet many of them lost weight and felt better, too!
How to Crush a Dry January? Replace your go-to beverage with a better one!
If you’re someone who likes to end the night with a glass of vino (like me), then it’s important to replace your evening cocktail with something else that you can look forward to. Personally, I’m a huge fan of sipping herbal teas in the evening. A rich cinnamon tea with a dash of almond milk and sweetened with a Torani Sugar Free Syrup is the perfect accompaniment to a night of Netflix.
Side Note - I LOVE Torani Sugar Free Syrups, because they’re made with simple, thoughtfully sourced ingredients and sweetened with Splenda so it’s perfect for a low carb diet.
The other great thing about Torani Sugar Free Syrups is that they mix so well! The flavors are crafted to bring out the best of whatever you infuse it in, so I love adding it to my teas and decaf coffee for an end-of-day sweet treat.
They’re also pretty easy to find - even Walmart sells them now (check out the closest one to you). Of course, you can always order them directly from the Torani.com website.
The best part about sweetening my hot beverages with Torani Sugar Free Syrup is that it instantly adds a little decadence to my hot tea (or decaf coffee), so I don’t feel a need to nosh on other sweet treats.
Want something decadent to replace your nightly cocktail? Try this vanilla cinnamon tea latte. It’s so decadent, yet it has almost no calories!
How to Make a Cinnamon Tea Latte
- 1 Herbal Tea bag (I prefer a spicy flavor like cinnamon or decaf vanilla chai)
- ½ cup warm, unsweetened almond milk
- ½ cup hot water
- 2 tbsp Torani Sugar Free Syrup
Directions
- Boil water and add to cup. Let the tea bag soak in the water for a few minutes.
- Add the Torani Sugar Free Syrup and stir.
- Heat the almond milk in the microwave or small saucepan. Once hot (not boiled), use a small hand frother to froth the milk, then add to the tea cup, layering over the hot tea with a spoon.
- Garnish with a cinnamon stick and/or a little sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
Another great tip for surviving a Dry January is to find yourself a buddy to hold you accountable. Having someone else who is equally as committed to staying alcohol-free is going to make the entire process more doable.
Better yet, I recommend you and your accountability partner set a reward for making it through the month, together. Maybe a fun dinner out on Feb 1st to mark the occasion.
Who knows, you may just fall in love with your tea-sipping, Torani Sugar Free (LINK) sweetened new habit so much that you no longer want to imbibe even after you’re done!
