If you’re a fan of 21 Day Fix or 80 Day Obsession then you’re going to LOVE 9 Week Control Freak, Beachbody's latest released that dropped in December 2020. Scroll down to the bottom of the post to try a sample workout.
9 Week Control Freak is a Type-A Dream Workout
I’m a big fan of Beachbody on Demand workouts in general, but Autumn Calabrese is a type-A girl’s dream come true, She will push you, make you work harder and of course, always she always delivers the best results.
Advanced Strength Training Techniques for Superior Results
What I love about this program is that Autumn incorporates the latest science and technology around strength training for crazy results. It’s 9 weeks broken out into 3 separate phases with an emphasis on “DCT - T" workouts (density, complexes + tabata).
So, What’s DCT-T?
- The “D” stands for density training - a high-intensity, stamina-based training that’s designed to burn fat.
- The “CT” stands for Compexes + time under tension. Complexes are basically complex movements (think bicep curls with a squat) with weights that’s designed to increase muscle muscle tone in the shortest amount of time possible (this keeps the workouts on the shorter side).
- Time under tension refers to keeping your muscles engaged longer so you accelerate strength, muscle tone and results.
- The final “T” stands for tabata training, which is known to be the most effective form of training for fat loss results.
I know that may sound like a lot of gibberish, so the TL;DR is that this is a strength and HIIT program, which is the best way to burn fat and build muscle tone.
Whether you are looking to lose 5lbs or 50, there is no better way to focus your workouts in my opinion, especially if you're a woman over 40!
How long are the workouts
Generally, they’re between 20-30 minutes each.
What kind of equipment will you need for 9 Week Control Freak?
You will definitely need a set of light, medium and heavy weights. Beyond that, the program suggests that you have a step on hand (you can snag one on Amazon) and a core ball that will help you define your waist.
I suspect that will be an option to purchase when you buy the program, but you can also snag that on amazon as well.
Who is 9 week control freak designed for?
It’s definitely not a beginner program, but as always, there are modifications for folks that are just getting started. If you want to complete a different program to get ready for this workout, I would recommend 21 Day Fix or Muscle Burns Fat. Both will give you the basic experience you’ll need to thrive with this workout program.
What’s unique about this program?
It comes with both the Ultimate Portion Fix AND 2B Mindset nutrition programs.
Ya’ll, I know this from first hand experience - even the hardest workouts will not bring you the results you want if you don’t clean up your diet. Both of these programs are designed to help you do just that.
They’re different in that one is very regimented and structured and the other is very loosy-goosy. It’s perfect for people who don’t want to measure or track food, but still want to see results.
Personally, I love them both, but if you’re serious about getting results, you might want to focus on the Ultimate Portion Fix first. It will really give you some perspective on portion size and what “clean eating” truly involves.
I also happen to have a ton of recipes for the 21 Day Fix (also called Ultimate Portion Fix).
How to purchase 9 Week Control Freak
The program is available for purchase now via Beachbody. I recommend buying the workout with the performance bundle which includes a pre-workout and post workout supplement that will really help you bring your best to the program. Also, the chocolate protein is the best.
Personally, think this program is going to be a bigger hit than 21 Day Fix (which was huge).
