Barre Blend is the latest low impact, barre program that Beachbody just released and it's taking over the online fitness space! To try a sample workout (for free), just scroll down to the end of this post.
What is Barre Bend?
This is an 8-week barre workout program you can do from anywhere, designed to develop a lean, toned physique through a fun fusion of ballet barre, Pilates, and cardio interval training.
Here's some quick facts about the Barre Blend program:
- Each unique workout is between 30 to 40 minutes long
- Emphasis is on low-impact work (if you liked Piyo, you'll love this)
- Equipment required is 1 - 5lb weights. Barre socks are optional
- You don't need a barre for this workout. Anything that's sturdy like the back of a chair or a stair rail will do!

What fitness level is required for this program?
It's designed for beginner & intermediate fitness enthusiasts. As always, there is a modifier if you're a newbie to working out, but you can also challenge yourself by using heavier weights if you want!
Barre Blend Results: What to Expect
I'll be honest, this is not the workout for you if you're trying to aggressively build muscle. That said, if you're looking to develop long, lean, toned arms and legs, then look no further. The small muscle movements and time under tension in this workout will create muscle without the bulk. It will also improve flexibility and your mindset as so much of barre is about getting centered, balanced and aligned.
My Experience with Barre Blend
I just finished the last workout of the program today. Eight weeks of barre can really have an amazing impact on your form and posture, not to mention feeling much leaner and stronger.
Overall, I really liked the program. It's still not my favorite Beachbody program (21 day fix will always be), but it's in my top 5. I always felt more energized and relaxed after the workouts (not overly sweaty and spent). This was a nice change of pace for me, as I think it's important to switch up the intensity of your workouts now and again.
Going forward, I will definitely go back and do the workouts again (I liked week 6 through 8 the best). The leg and butt workouts were my favorite to do by far.
How much does Barre Blend Cost?
Barre Blend is being offered at a promotional rate of $160, but it will be going up to $180 soon. That includes the workouts for a YEAR, a month of nutrition supplements to help with cravings and hunger, and personalized fitness coaching.
Here's What You'll Get:
-
8 weeks of progressive workouts designed to get more challenging as you build strength and stamina.
-
8-weeks of meal plans and nutrition coaching designed to help you shed body fat
- 4 weeks of meal replacement nutrition shakes (designed to curb cravings and hunger)
-
Daily accountability. I'll be with you each step of the way for the first 4 weeks (and longer if you chose to stick with coaching).
Are weights used in Barre Blend?
Yes, but they are optional. The fun part, is that you use very light weights for the program, which might surprise you! Elise Joan, the creator of the program, recommends using 3 to 5 pound weights and no more. The idea, is to use light weights with increased time under tension which means burning out your muscles with small moves. The results are long, lean, toned muscles and improved posture.
Do you need barre socks for this program?
No. You can, but I find I get a better workout when I do it barefoot, but on a yoga mat. You can also do it on carpet if you're traveling, but a yoga mat will give you the best amount of grip and traction.

Hi,
If you have over 30lbs to lose do you think barre is good for this or would oyu recommend 21 day fix real time for that then come to barre to tone up?
Thank you
Caren
Hi Jamie,
If you're asking which workout is more difficult - I'd say 21 day fix. It's also going to give you better results because it's more difficult. However, if you hate lifting weights, you will not be consistent whereas if you love barre, you will be.
It's totally up to your personal preference (and dialing in your diet, too!).
